Three more changes in the staff, new athletics coach was last Schalker

VfL Bochum has made three more changes to the team around Thomas Letsch. In addition to a new athletics coach and a new rehab coach, the analysis area will be expanded.

The day before, VfL Bochum announced that Markus Feldhoff would become the new co-trainer under Thomas Letsch. But the head coach can look forward to three more additions to his staff in the coming season.

Firstly, the position of athletics coach will be filled. The previous head of athletics, Lukas Kern, will be replaced by Klaus Luisser after two years in office. The Austrian already knows Letsch from his time in the youth academy of RB Salzburg. Luisser also worked with the medical director of VfL physiotherapy, Maik Liesbrock, for two years during his tenure at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Most recently, the athletics trainer worked at neighbouring club FC Schalke 04 from 2018 to 2020. In addition, the 46-year-old has already worked for Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Pasching.

New rehabilitation coach, analysis team expanded

The new rehabilitation coach Björn Kadlubowski, on the other hand, has only one club on his CV. In 2014, he took over as fitness coach at Arminia Bielefeld’s U19s, followed by the jump to rehab coach in the professional division in 2022. Now the 31-year-old is moving to VfL.

Kadlubowski succeeds Marius Kirmse, who will now focus on nutritional counselling for both the professionals and the junior training centre. There is also an expansion in the analysis team. Niklas Honnete will be supported by Robin Mehring.

Letsch’s team now includes Markus Feldhoff, Jan Fießer and Frank Heinemann as co-trainers, goalkeeping coach Peter Greiber, Rexhep Kushtani as performance diagnostician and the three newcomers Luisser (athletics coach), Kadlubowski (rehabilitation coach) and Mehring, who will take over video analysis together with Honnete.

In addition, there are the doctors Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Bauer and Dr. Ghani Hilal as well as Marius Kirmse (nutritional counselling), Maik Liesbrock (head of physiotherapy & rehabilitation), Benedikt Oppenhäuser (physiotherapist & rehabilitation), Dennis Sarteh (physiotherapist & osteopath) and Saša Zivanović (masseur) in the medical department and Markus Eggers, Andreas Pahl (both kit attendants) and Max Tolischus (team manager) on the staff.
