This is how much extra money Oldenburg has to invest per home game

SC Verl is the only club in the 3rd division that plays away to Paderborn and therefore does not play any real home games. Promoted VfB Oldenburg will be spared that.

In League Three, VfB Oldenburg does not have to go the way of SC Verl or relegated TSV Havelse and play its home games in a foreign stadium.

The champions of the 2021/2022 Regionalliga Nord season are allowed to host their rivals at their home Marschwegstadion. This is made possible by a mobile floodlight system. But of course this system also costs additional money for each home game.

We currently expect to have to pay 35,000 to 40,000 euros per game for the floodlights,” explained VfB managing director Michael Weinberg in the “Nordwest-Zeitung”. For all home games in the 2022/2023 season, VfB will have to shell out 630,000 to 720,000 euros. Nevertheless: those responsible are glad that the promoted team does not have to move to the alternative stadium in Hanover. “We are very happy that we have managed to play our home games here in Oldenburg,” stresses Weinberg.

However, it will probably not be quite the same for Oldenburg without Hanover matches. In the next few weeks, matches at the Marschwegstadion are likely to be guaranteed. But winter is also coming. And here’s the problem: the VfB stadium has no turf heating. It is quite possible that the Oldenburg team will then have to pay the rent of around 60,000 euros in Hanover in order to possibly host its opponents in the Heinz von der Heiden Arena in Hanover after the World Cup, i.e. from January 2023 onwards.
