Free admission at these three matches

Second division football club Fortuna Düsseldorf wants to offer fans free admission to its home matches in future. It is now clear at which three games this will be the case.

Second division football club Fortuna Düsseldorf will start the pilot project for free home games on 21 October against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. As part of the new “Fortuna for all” concept, a total of three home games will be offered without admission fees in the coming season. The other two free games will be against FC St. Pauli on the last weekend of January 2024 and against Eintracht Braunschweig in April 2024. This was announced by the club on Monday. Fortuna unveiled its new strategic direction last April and, thanks to the support of new sponsors, plans to offer free stadium admission for all home games in the long term.

“We have listened a lot in recent weeks and taken into account criticism and ideas from many fans. We are very happy to now get started and take the next step with the pilot phase,” said Fortuna’s CEO Alexander Jobst.

The selection of the matches was based on the attractiveness and tradition of the opponents. In addition, care was taken to ensure that there was enough time between the individual free games to have the opportunity to improve procedures and address points of criticism. In addition, one such match was to take place in every third of the season.

The procedure was coordinated with the DFL and an agreement reached that no game should be offered with free admission on the last four match days. The club wants to inform about the exact procedure of the application in due time.
