FC Gütersloh adds a striker from the 3rd League

FC Gütersloh is strengthening its offense shortly before the start of the season. A striker has transferred from the 3rd League to the team promoted to the Regionalliga.

Before the start of the season against fellow promoted SC Paderborn II on Sunday (2 p.m., RS-Liveticker), FC Gütersloh has once again struck on the transfer market.

The new regional league club has strengthened itself with a striker from the 3rd league: Eduard Probst is changing clubs within East Westphalia and is coming to the Heidewald on loan from SC Verl – the clubs have agreed to keep further details of the deal confidential.

The 22-year-old attacker made 15 third-league appearances for Verler last season. He scored two goals and set up two others.

In the 2021/22 season, Probst caused a stir in the jersey of Westfalia Rhynern, scoring 23 goals in 24 Oberliga appearances. His strong performances did not go unnoticed by his league rivals from Gütersloh at the time.

“I thought Eduard was really good when we played against Rhynern in the Oberliga. He was very dangerous then,” FCG coach Julian Hesse recalls. “He has his strengths when he goes deep and gets behind the chain. In addition, he has very good speed and is goal-threatening in the penalty area.”

Hesse continued, “He has his strengths when he goes deep routes and gets behind the chain. On top of that, he has very good speed and is goal-threatening in the penalty area.” The German-Russian Probst, who falls under the U23 rule, is Gütersloh’s eleventh new addition overall.
