DJK TuS Hordel – New league, new team

After relegation to the Landesliga, DJK TuS Hordel is focusing on a “core reorganization of the squad” and is aiming to “soon be among the top teams.”

After relegation from the Westfalenliga II, DJK TuS Hordel is back in the Landesliga Westfalen after 13 years. Coach Mirko Talaga spoke about the challenges of the past season and plans for the future.

Talaga talks about the narrow miss to stay in the league: “In the first half of the season we only scored eight points, it was a big task to catch up in the second half. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to do that, even though we went on a little winning streak at the end.”

In the end it wasn’t enough, now the focus is only on the future. Talaga explains, “We put together a completely new squad, relying primarily on hungry young players. It was necessary to rebuild the squad to find ourselves as a team and develop our idea of soccer. Of course, this takes time, but we are confident that we will play a decent season.”

Hordel signed a total of ten new players for the Landesliga. There are currently no absentees to complain about. Except for one long-term injury: Sven Mölleken, the team’s goalkeeper, is currently unavailable for action due to a back injury.

The performance density is high

This also means that the squad restructuring can be tackled with the entire staff. The goals are correspondingly ambitious. Talaga: “Realistically, we’re not one of the top teams, but we’re aiming to establish ourselves in the top third of the table.”

His addition: “The Landesliga promises an exciting and balanced level. The power density in the league is high. We know about the challenges that await us and are diligently preparing for them.”

But the focus is not on the opponents. Talaga emphasizes, “We want to perform as a team and take care of ourselves, which is what we did best in the last second half of the season .We have a clear philosophy that we want to implement on the pitch. “

In terms of the team’s performance in preparation, the coach is satisfied: “The guys give full throttle in training and try to implement the guidelines of the coaching team. The mood is good, but it remains to be seen how it will develop when we start the season and encounter challenges.”

Talaga concludes by emphasizing, “We are looking forward to the new season and are full of euphoria. The first match day will be interesting, we want to show as a team what we are capable of. The Landesliga may still be unfamiliar to us, but we are ready to face the challenge and stick together as a unit.”

Things get underway on Sunday (August 13) with the relegation duel against Westfalia Herne.
