Despite success in Lippstadt – Nowak criticises team after clear lead

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen celebrated their first win on the third matchday in the Regionalliga West. Coach Jörn Nowak’s team defeated SV Lippstadt 4:1 (2:0).

After Rot-Weiß Oberhausen remained winless on the first two matchdays of the Regionalliga West and could only pick up one point, a 4:1 away win against SV Lippstadt followed on matchday 3.

In front of 740 spectators in the Liebelt Arena in Lippstadt, RWO showed a convincing performance over long stretches. Jörn Nowak, coach of the Oberhausen team, agreed with this shortly after the game: “From the first minute on, we showed dominance, just as we had imagined. That was not a matter of course after the first two results this season.”

That dominance led to two RWO goals in the first half. Captain Sven Kreyer scored a tap-in for the lead after Lippstadt keeper Balkenhoff allowed a cross from Moritz Montag to bounce forward (32nd). Shortly afterwards, a standard made it 2-0: a free-kick cross from Oguzhan Kefkir found a grateful recipient in Pierre Fassnacht (39).

Directly after the break, returnee Tim Stappmann scored to make it 3:0 (47). After that, however, there was a phase in the game that Nowak did not like at all: “I am anything but satisfied with the phase after the 3:0. I was hoping for more calmness and more self-confidence from my team. We gave Lippstadt far too much space and possession. We just reacted and ran after them, and not even at the highest tempo. “

The SVL took advantage of these shaky minutes for Oberhausen in the 70th minute and reduced the score to 1:3. Viktor Maier scored the goal, but the Lippstadt captain benefited from a hair-raising ball loss by Cottrell Ezekwem, who had been substituted earlier.

Rinor Rexha then scored the 4:1 with a beautiful lob, but Nowak was critical of the result: “The bottom line is that the result is clearer than the game actually indicated, especially in view of the final phase, in which we were able to clear the ball twice in the greatest of emergencies.

This is how Lippstadt coach Bechtold assesses the third defeat in a row.

It has been a messed-up start to the season for SV Lippstadt. Coach Felix Bechtold’s team starts the season with three defeats from three point games. “At the moment we don’t have luck on our side,” Bechtold lamented shortly after the final whistle. “We are not being taken apart in terms of play as the results sound right now. With Oberhausen and Aachen, we had two tough lumps right at the start, maybe not at the best time for us.”

Particularly in the first half, the Lippstadt team seemed overwhelmed at times by the high tempo of the visitors. The 32-year-old cited his team’s lack of experience as the reason, but was combative: “We are a young team and are not yet as solid at the moment, which was especially evident in the first half. We now have to draw the right conclusions and look positively ahead.”

While SV Lippstadt travels to the Heidewaldstadion for the derby against FC Gütersloh on the next matchday (18 August, 7.30 p.m.), Rot-Weiß Oberhausen receives Alemannia Aachen at the same time.
