Shock for club! Defender suffers cruciate ligament rupture

1. FC Nürnberg will have to do without Tim Handwerker for several months. He suffered a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the match against SSV Jahn Regensburg on Saturday (0:0).

“I noticed straight away that something worse had happened. The team was there for me straight away and Werner (Krutsch, team doctor) took outstanding care of me. At the moment it’s still hard for me to realise. The slump will definitely come,” left-back TimHandwerker was quoted as saying in the club release.

There were other injury worries at FCN. Nuremberg coach Robert Klauß had to do without captain Christopher Schindler due to a muscle injury, and newcomer James Lawrence made his starting debut in his place. During the warm-up, Mats Möller Daehli also suffered an injury and had to pull out at short notice.
