Wanne 11 celebrate three-pointer Bienk, Münster derby in round 2

Thanks to a flawless hat-trick, SV Wanne 11 are through to the 2nd round of the Westfalenpokal. SG Wattenscheid 09 now awaits the Landesliga club.

With one game to go, the first round of the Westphalia Cup is in the books. On Thursday evening (17 August), six Landesliga teams fought for three of the remaining second-round places.

One of them goes to SV Wanne 11, and the sports club knows exactly who to thank. In the match against VfB Westhofen, Steven Murro (7th) gave Wanne 11 an early lead, but Safet Tupalla quickly equalised for the visitors after a penalty was awarded from the spot (18th).

The game remained even until half-time, and Wanne coach Franko Pepe proved to be a mastermind with his change at the break: Joker Yves Brooklyn Bienk scored a flawless hat-trick (50./60./90.) to ensure a clear 4:1 final result and SV Wanne 11’s participation in the second round.

And the Wanners drew a big lot: SG Wattenscheid 09, who were victorious in the first round with an effort 2:1 against YEG Hassel, will be SV Wanne’s upcoming cup hurdle.

Borussia Münster against Preußen – Oerlinghausen wins from the spot

Borussia 07 Münster will also compete in the second round. With a 2-1 win over BW Westfalia Langenbochum, Borussia secured a real hammer duel in round two despite trailing 0-1 and later being outnumbered: third division and city rivals Preußen Münster are the next opponents!

The match between TSV Oerlinghausen and Post TSV Detmold was dramatic. After 90 minutes without a goal, the match went directly into a penalty shoot-out. The home side started with a miss, but the Detmold visitors lost their nerve and only scored the first try. In the end, the Oerlinghausen team won 3:1 and will now play against regional league team SV Rödinghausen.

A place in the second round will be awarded on 13 September. The winner of the match between Westfalenligist RSV Meinerzhagen and Oberligist SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl will face SW Ostinghausen from the Landesliga in round two.
