SpVgg Erkenschwick celebrate first win of the season – coach “highly satisfied”

Third match day in the Oberliga Westfalen: Promoted SpVgg Erkenschwick celebrated their first win, defeating SpVgg Vreden 3:1.

Promoted SpVgg Erkenschwick celebrated their first win of the season in the Oberliga Westfalen on Sunday. In a hard-fought match, they managed a convincing 3:1 victory (1:1) against SpVgg Vreden. Maximilian Hinkelmann (32nd) gave Vreden the lead, but Finn Wortmann (33rd) quickly equalised. In the second half, Philip Breilmann (48th) and Mike Jordan (83rd) extended Erkenschwick’s lead, resulting in a deserved win.

The coach of Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick, Magnus Niemöller, said at the press conference after the clash: “I am highly satisfied with today’s performance. From 2:1 onwards, we had an outstanding phase in which we did many things right.” However, the coach equally recognised the need for more accurate finishes: “Especially in the last third, we had opportunities to score goals.”

The coach concluded his remarks with a view to the upcoming match against ASC Dortmund (3 September, 3 p.m.): “But now we have to move on and see that we take this momentum from the match into the next encounter against Dortmund.”

Summing up his team’s performance, Niemöller said: “I am convinced that the second half was very good for our development process. The team has realised that it can fight its way back even in hopeless situations and presented itself in a stable manner today. “
