SC Preußen Münster is restructuring its management. Dr. Markus Sass moves up to the board and replaces Albrecht Dörries, who, however, remains with the club.

SC Preußen Münster is reacting to the “growing challenges” and is reorganising itself. “With the clear aim of further professionalising the structures at the club and in order to meet the increasingly complex tasks of modern football and the stadium project, SC Preußen will restructure its management as of 1 January 2024,” the club announced on Wednesday.

This restructuring will see Dr. Markus Sass join Peter Niemeyer (Sport) and Ole Kittner (Marketing, Strategy & Communications) on the management board in the future. Sass, who holds a doctorate in sports economics, will take over the Finance division from his predecessor Albrecht Dörries at the turn of the year. In addition, Sass will in future also be responsible for “Stadium and Organisation”.

Dörries to remain in Münster

Up to now, the project manager has been responsible for projects involving the Allianz Arena, the RheinEnergie Stadium and the Veltins Arena. In Münster, he was also “in charge of updating the feasibility study for the Münster stadium conversion”. Sass has been self-employed since 2021, and in recent months he has already taken over project coordination for the stadium conversion at the SCP.

But Dörries will also remain with the club. He will “leave the management on his own initiative and in future improve the operational processes at the office in a managerial capacity and be responsible for licensing and legal matters”.

President Dr. Bernward Maasjost was pleased with the changes: “We are very pleased to have gained additional expertise in Dr. Sass and at the same time to be able to continue to responsibly integrate a proven employee in Albrecht Dörries.

Sass sees “outstanding development prospects”.

The decision to take on greater responsibilities at the SCP in the future was not difficult for Sass. “When the club approached me about possibly taking on management responsibility, I didn’t have to think twice in view of the outstanding development prospects the club has in shop with the new stadium.”

The new man in the management wants to “really get things moving” with the SCP in the next few years. First, however, the “challenges of the transition period” have to be overcome.
