Secret test – 0:4 against Viktoria Köln

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen were shown where they still lack in a secret test against Viktoria Köln.

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen used the match-free week to test against third-division team Viktoria Köln. In the end, Viktoria won 4:0. Luca de Meester excelled with a hat-trick and Jonah Sticker also scored for coach Olaf Janßen’s team.

Both coaches used the match to give practice to the players who have not yet had a chance to play in the league. “Our boys did a great job, they were really up for the game,” said Janßen. “We played against a very good Oberhausen team. I am very happy with the attitude, the manner and of course the result. If you look at the fact that our goal scorers, Luca de Meester and Jonah Sticker, are two boys who have just come out of the U19s, it shows the way we are going. I can only go home positive about that.”

RWO coach Jörn Nowak told the WAZ: “We had emphasised beforehand that we wanted to use the international break to work on tactical things that we didn’t have time for before. We also did that in this test match. It was already clear to us in advance that not everything would work smoothly. In terms of intensity and readiness, I agree with the test. I don’t think we could have achieved such a match load in any training session. Of course, we can’t be satisfied with the result. But it’s not so bad to see what’s not working yet and what we have to work on. As a team, but also each individual player.”

Both teams have made a very good start in the league. After the international break, it’s back to business for Viktoria in the 3. Liga on Saturday (16 September, 2pm) at BVB II.

At the same time, RWO has to play Fortuna Köln at home in the top match in the Regionalliga – here the third team challenges the second.
