BVB professional Morey again in bad luck: weeks of forced break

Another setback for Mateu Morey: The Spaniard injured himself in training for Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund’s professional footballer Mateu Morey continues to have bad luck. The Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund announced on Saturday that the 23-year-old Spaniard suffered another knee injury during training. According to the statement, the right-back will “not be available for a few weeks” for the ninth-placed team.

Morey had recently made progress after several knee operations and had hoped to make a comeback soon. At the away match in Bochum (1:1) on the second matchday of this season, he was in the matchday squad for the first time again after a long compulsory break. Morey played his last competitive match to date in May 2021.

In total, the 23-year-old Spaniard, who has already been under contract with BVB since 2019, has only made 29 competitive appearances for Borussia, while he also made 12 appearances for Dortmund’s reserves.

According to transfermarkt.de, Morey has already missed 111 matches due to injury during his time at BVB. Now the next ones will probably come.

Another Dortmund player is looking very good for a return: Offensive player Giovanni Reyna played for around an hour in the U23 test against Schalke 04’s second team (0:1)
