The German U20 national team also drew in the second test. Once again, the talents from the Revier were allowed to play.

After the 1-1 draw against Italy, in which the three Revier talents Tim Oermann, Casper Jander (both over 90 minutes) and Yusuf Kabadayi (from the 71st minute onwards) were allowed to show themselves, the second test for the newly formed U20 national team was on the agenda on Monday afternoon.

The team, which was actually coached by Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner, also drew 1-1 in Poland. While the two coaches were helping out the senior national team on an interim basis, Daniel Stredak, Stefan Wessels and Prof. Dr. Ulf Sobek took over the team.

Duisburg’s Jander was again allowed to start from the beginning. The 20-year-old started in defensive midfield alongside Mattes Hansen – who was captain of FC Schalke 04’s U19 team last season and has since joined the professional squad of SC Paderborn – and played 73 minutes. The same applied to Justin Diehl, who is only 18 years old and is currently shaking up the Regionalliga West with 1. FC Köln (six games, four goals, one assist).

Kabadayi on the pitch for 90 minutes

Meanwhile, Schalke newcomer Yusuf Kabadayi was on the pitch for 90 minutes. The attacker was allowed to play up front. Former RWE centre-back Joshua Quarshie (now with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim) also played the full match. Next to him in central defence: Nnamdi Collins, who recently left BVB for Eintracht Frankfurt.

It was Collins who replaced Bochum’s Tim Oermann in the 73rd minute. However, the centre-back was unable to have a major impact on the game, as the goals were already scored before the break.

Tomasz Pienko of Zaglebie Lubin put his side ahead after 36 minutes. Ben Bobzien, currently on loan from 1. FSV Mainz 05 to Austria Lustenau, equalised (45.+1).

The U20 team will meet again in mid-October. They will then play test matches in Portugal (13 October) and against the Czech Republic (16 October).
