Erkenschwick exacerbates Wattenscheid’s crisis – eight goals twice

The Oberliga Westfalen was again goal-filled on matchday six. But the SG Wattenscheid continues to stagger. The top flight marches in step.

The SG Wattenscheid 09’s position in the Oberliga Westfalen is getting tighter and tighter. In the traditional derby of matchday six, coach Christian Britscho’s team lost 4-2 (0-1) to Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick. The guests continue to ride the wave of success after their promotion and remain among the top teams in the league.

The Wattenscheider, on the other hand, were already accompanied into the dressing room by whistles at the break. The two goals by Dennis Lerche (50th/71st) to make it 1:2 and 2:4 were not enough. Erkenschwick is now one of four teams with 13 points.

But the six goals in the Lohrheide were not enough for the highest-scoring Oberliga match of the weekend. Eintracht Rheine and Westfalia Rhynern were among the teams to score. The lead changed four times between the two teams in the 4:4. The big goal haul should not please either. One point is simply too little for Rheine and Rhynern. Eintracht is still waiting for its win of the season, while Westfalia remains close to the relegation places.

That is also where Sportfreunde Siegen find themselves despite a fighting performance at FC Brünninghausen. Twice the Siegen side came back from a deficit, did not let themselves be discouraged by a 0:2 interval deficit and even turned the game around in injury time to win 4:3! But Pascal Wieczorek shattered Siegen’s dreams of victory and equalised in the 97th minute.

While FCB now find themselves in the lower midfield, ASC 09 Dortmund have taken a step forward. The Aplerbecker won 3-0 (1-0) against TSG Sprockhövel and are now in third place.

Türkspor Dortmund is still a few points away from this. The promoted team was beaten 2-1 by TuS Ennepetal. Coach Sebastian Tyrala’s team even led 1:0 at half-time. But a brace from Nils Nettersheim sealed Dortmund’s second defeat of the season.

SC Preußen Münster II still don’t know what a defeat feels like on the sixth matchday. They are still the only unbeaten team in the Oberliga Westfalen. The Münster team continued their streak with a 2-1 away win at SpVgg Vreden.

SV Schermbeck concluded the matchday with a 2-1 win at 1. FC Gievenbeck. Two standard goals were enough for SVS. The second goal by Hendrik Christian Löbler (78th) was set up by Kevin Grund from a free kick.

Saturday was also a goal-filled day

Sportfreunde Lotte had already defended their lead at the top of the table on Saturday. Coach Fabian Lübbers’ team won 5:1 (2:0) against SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl.

On the same day, TuS Bövinghausen solved their away task with similar ease. The Dortmund team won 3-0 (1-0) at TSV Victoria Clarholz. TuS coach Christian Knappmann was delighted with the victory in the style of a “top team”.
