ASC Dortmund with a few problems ahead of derby against Bövinghausen

ASC Dortmund lost their opening match in the Oberliga Westfalen against Sportfreunde Siegen 0:3. Coach Antonios Kotziampassis is disappointed.

After a flawless preparation, ASC Dortmund suffered a 0:3 defeat against Sportfreunde Siegen on the first matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen.

Coach Antonios Kotziampassis was disappointed with his team’s performance: “We simply didn’t play up to our potential. The whole team was not up to scratch. We then made individual mistakes that led to goals and that’s how you lose the game in the end.”

Dortmund were already 2-0 down at the break, and nothing worked after the change of ends either. Especially on the offensive, the ASC players found no answers to Sportfreunde’s solid defence. “On this day we were not good enough, that has to be said quite clearly. Both individually and as a team,” criticised Kotziampassis.

Status Quo worse than expected

A strenuous week of training awaits him and his team: “Judging from the opening game, we have to work on everything. The body language, the attitude, the passing game, the willingness to run. All that was missing. We didn’t bring the things we are actually capable of on the field.”

Due to the good test matches, the ASC coach was surprised by his team’s performance: “I thought we were already further along. But you could just see that we have to put everything on the line to win games in the top division. And we didn’t manage that at the weekend. “

This is a derby, it’s not the position in the table that counts, but the attitude and the willingness to give everything to leave the field as a winner.

The second matchday will be a Dortmund city derby. TuS Bövinghausen is an opponent who cannot be described as an ordinary promoted team. “They are a good team with ambitions to play at the top, maybe even to be promoted. Accordingly, the transfers Bövinghausen has made are also of high quality. They have started well with a 2:1 against Sportfreunde Lotte,” acknowledges Kotziampassis.

But ASC is not intimidated by the good results or the impressive squad: “A tough battle awaits us. It’s a derby, it’s not the position in the table that counts, but the attitude and the willingness to give everything to come off the pitch as winners. That will be hard enough for us. “
