For Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, the week before the top match at 1. FC Düren (Saturday, 2 p.m.) starts with bitter news. The Kleeblätter will have to do without Marius Kleinsorge for a long time.

The offensive man was injured in the 0:0 against 1. FC Bocholt on Saturday in the first half and had to be substituted. Two days later, RWO announced the diagnosis. Kleinsorge tore his syndesmosis ligament, as examinations revealed.

The estimated downtime: several months. Before the end of the year, the 27-year-old is unlikely to be used. This Monday, Kleinsorge was already operated. The club wished him a “quick and complete recovery”.

First and foremost for the native of Goslar himself, but of course also for the team of coach Jörn Nowak, this is a setback. Kleinsorge arrived in the summer from third-league relegated SV Meppen. At RWO, he is set to play alongside Oguzhan Kefkir and Moritz Stoppelkamp on the right wing. Kleinsorge has been in the starting eleven for all nine Regionalliga matches so far and scored one goal. He also set up another goal.

However, in the coming months he will inevitably have to make do with a place in the stands for the time being – and the Red and Whites will have to do without Kleinsorge’s experience from 126 appearances in the 3rd Division and 73 appearances in the Regionalliga for clubs such as Meppen, Rot-Weiss Essen, 1.
