Caspar Jander of MSV Duisburg has been nominated again for the U20 national team. This causes a scheduling conflict.

MSV Duisburg must have received this news at the start of the week with mixed feelings. Caspar Jander was again nominated for the German U20 national team.

Actually a pleasant news for the 20-year-old midfield jewel and his club. Only: If Jander takes part in the training course starting in a week, he would miss the Zebras in the away game at 1. FC Saarbrücken (October 15).

Because unlike the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, the 3rd league does not suspend operations regardless of the international matches taking place in October. And MSV certainly can’t use a loss of Jander in the current situation.

Meanwhile, the Meiderich team is working on a solution to the scheduling conflict. There is an obligation to make a substitution. However, the club is entitled to apply to the DFB for a postponement of the match – and MSV has now made use of this right. “We will of course keep you informed here about developments and, if necessary, a new date,” it says.

A BVB talent in the mix, Bochum’s Oermann on call-up

Still winless and four points behind a non-relegation place, Duisburg is currently at the bottom of the table. Despite his age, Jander is considered one of the players who should lead MSV out of the crisis. So far, he has always been part of the starting eleven and has played the most minutes of all field players.

At the beginning of September, the Münster native was called up to the U20 squad for the first time and played two international matches from the start. With his performances, Jander apparently successfully applied for another invitation.

Coach Hannes Wolf also nominated two talented players from FC Schalke 04’s professional squad. Alongside winger Yusuf Kabadayi (19), who has played two games for the U20 squad so far, Keke Topp is also part of the squad.

The 19-year-old striker is only a wild card for Schalke and is still waiting for his first professional goal. Topp, on the other hand, has already made a splash in the DFB’s youth team, scoring seven goals in eleven appearances for the German U19s.

Hendry Blank (19), a member of Borussia Dortmund’s third-division team, is also in the squad. His teammate and ex-Duisburg player Julian Hettwer (20) is on call, as is Tim Oermann (19) from VfL Bochum.

Two test matches are scheduled for the juniors. First, the Wolf team plays in Portugal (October 13), a few days later it hosts the Czech Republic (October 16).
