Hagemann makes comeback – WSV gets frustration off their chest

Wuppertaler SV played a test match on the holiday – with success. The struggling regional league club won 8:1 (4:1) at VfB Schwelm.

Visits to the neighboring town of Schwelm are a tradition for Wuppertaler SV. However, it has been four years since the ambitious regional league team played a test match against the district league team VfB Schwelm.

On Tuesday afternoon, it was that time again: WSV visited Schwelm to stay in rhythm before the league clash against SV Lippstadt. Captain Kevin Pytlik and Mert Göckan, two defenders who had been suspended in the league, were in the starting eleven, and newcomer and offensive hopeful Marco Terrazzino also started from the beginning. In the second half, Kevin Hagemann also celebrated his comeback after a lengthy injury.

The goal of the regional league team was clear: After the disgraceful cup defeat in Alstaden (3:4 n.V.) and the bitter derby defeat in Velbert (0:1), the team of head coach Hüzeyfe Dogan finally wanted to win again. No sooner said than done: WSV got rid of their frustration in Schwelm and celebrated an 8:1 (4:1) victory. The only downer was the goal conceded in the 43rd minute by Angelos Pavlidis.

Even though the opponent was “only” a district league team, the positive insights outweighed the negative ones after the final whistle: Striker Damjan Marceta, who has been waiting for a league goal since the end of August, tanked up on confidence and scored a triple. Kevin Rodrigues Pires, Jef Tchouangue, Semir Saric and the two U19 talents Peter Kinge and Valon Zhushi also got on the scoresheet.

Now the league routine continues. For Wuppertaler SV, the agenda ahead of the home match against SV Lippstadt is simple: Dogan’s team wants to get back on track and win its first match since the 2-0 victory over Wegberg-Beeck more than a month ago.

Kickoff at Velbert’s IMS Arena is at 2 p.m. on Saturday. A week later, the third-placed team in the standings will travel to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in a top match.
