Second division soccer club Fortuna Düsseldorf has received a great response for its first free match.

The club announced on Wednesday that it had received “just under 120,000” ticket requests for the match against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (October 21, 8:30 p.m.). After deducting the tickets of the guest fans, the organized Düsseldorf fan scene and season ticket holders, there are still about 21,000 seats available. These will be allocated among 86,000 ticket applications that are still open.

“These are currently being sorted according to seat preferences and all applications have a real chance of receiving a ticket,” a statement from the club said. Tickets will be awarded by mail on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

“We are very pleased that the process from idea to implementation has worked so smoothly and that the interest in our first free game is so great,” said Alexander Jobst, CEO at Fortuna.

Under the motto “Fortuna for everyone,” Düsseldorf is granting free admission to three home games this season. This also applies to the duels with FC St. Pauli and Eintracht Braunschweig, each of which will take place in the second half of the season and thus in 2024.
