A paragraph allows MSV Duisburg and Freiburg II to postpone a game. Here the DFB must act – a comment.

The DFB announced on Thursday that two third division games from the eleventh matchday will be postponed. Namely, that of SC Freiburg II against Halleschen FC and that of MSV Duisburg at 1. FC Saarbrücken.

The reason: Freiburg II and MSV Duisburg are each sending a player, Mika Baur and Caspar Jander, to the German U20 national team.

The DFB announced: “The clubs concerned had duly submitted the request to postpone the match on the basis of Section 34 of the DFB Match Regulations. The postponement dates are not yet fixed, they should be coordinated with the clubs as soon as possible and announced.”

Now in this case it is to MSV’s advantage, but let’s be honest. This paragraph must be deleted – or at least modified. It can’t be right that clubs have to have 80 percent of their squad injured before they can even think about postponing a match.

But when a talented player is called up for a national team, the finger is immediately raised that the match should be postponed. What a nonsense, even if it is clear that it is a weakening for the MSV, should Jander not be able to play against Saarbrücken. But to make it possible to postpone the match is simply incomprehensible.

A suggestion would be to increase the number of nominated players, if three or more players have to be called off, it might be understandable to agree to a postponement.

But this way the opponent is punished, who should meet SC Freiburg or MSV on this matchday. If the opponent has a significantly worse staffing level on the make-up date than on the date actually agreed, no one at the DFB is interested, and the game must then be played.

There will be no one hundred percent justice, that is always clear anyway, but this paragraph is a bad joke in the form.
