Coach search at Bremer Brücke – Farat Toku is also a hot candidate

VfL Osnabrück is still looking for a successor to Daniel Scherning. Talks have already been held with several coaching candidates.

The coaching market at VfL Osnabrück is currently being diligently explored. At Bremer Brücke, they are looking for a successor to Daniel Scherning, who is now coaching second-division side Arminia Bielefeld.

After the unsatisfactory start to the season – one win, two draws, two defeats – sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh (39) remains relaxed – even when it comes to the search for a coach. Shapourzadeh said on “Magenta” last weekend: “It has to be someone who fits us, the club and here at Bremer Brücke. Someone who can bring energy and emotion. These are the topics we have set ourselves. It all has to be well thought out.” He also stressed, “It doesn’t necessarily have to be a coach with experience in the 3rd division.”

And here the trail to Carsten Rump (41) is getting hotter. RevierSport had already named the coach of the Regionalliga West representative as a candidate. Keyword Regionalliga West: In the Osnabrück environment, the name of Mark Zimmermann (48) (1. FC Köln II) is also being discussed. For a long time, the football coach was also considered a hot candidate to succeed Neidhart at Rot-Weiss Essen. But RWE ultimately signed Christoph Dabrowski. Now Zimmermann could be a candidate for Osnabrück

Ex-Wattenscheid coach a candidate

However, Scherning’s successor is fiercely contested. The name of Farat Toku (42), once the successful coach of SG Wattenscheid 09, who most recently narrowly missed out on the third division with Viktoria Berlin, is also being mentioned in the VfL environment. Shapourzadeh is also said to be looking into the matter.

According to information from this editorial team, Alexander Nouri (43) is also on his list alongside Rump, Zimmermann and Toku. The latter was most recently the coach of Kavala in Greece. Nouri may have an advantage over the other candidates mentioned: He was a player in Osnabrück between 2004 and 2008 and knows the ins and outs of the Bremer Brücke. He played 93 times for the purple and white team – no other club has seen him on the ball more often in his career.
