Alcohol affair! Poland sends four talented players home

The U17 FIFA World Cup will take place in Indonesia from November 10 to December 2, 2023. Poland is also taking part. However, four talented players had to travel home after a scandal.

A few days ago, the Polish U17 national team flew from Warsaw to Jakarta. The U17 World Championship begins on November 10. The Poles will start the tournament one day after the opening.

However, four players will not be there. The team should take around two weeks to acclimatize and prepare in Asia. Oskar Tomczyk, Filip Wolski (both Lech Poznań), Jan Łabędzki (ŁKS Łódź) and Filip Rózga (Cracovia Kraków) have probably misunderstood this a little.

Instead of preparing professionally for the tournament and the group matches against Japan, Senegal and Argentina, the quartet organized a private party according to Polish media reports and were caught doing so. The Polish talents are also said to have consumed a lot of alcohol. The Polish media report the same thing. The association (PZPN) did not want to comment on the reasons for the quartet’s return home.

In a press release, the Polish Football Association merely stated: “Due to unsportsmanlike conduct and breaches of the rules, the officials of the U17 national team have decided that four players will return home with immediate effect. This concerns: Oskar Tomczyk, Filip Rózga, Jan Łabędzki and Filip Wolski. “

The managers of the clubs in Lodz, Krakow and Poznan were unequivocal about the suspensions of their young players. A statement from Lech Poznan, for example, reads:

We are waiting for the return of the two players, but we can already reveal that the players expect very harsh consequences.”

Lech Poznan

“At Lech Poznań there are absolutely no two opinions about the unsportsmanlike conduct of a player who represents Lech and the national team. The behavior is in no way consistent with the values of our youth academy and the club. The aim of our youth academy, which is highly regarded in this part of Europe, is not only to develop great footballers who, in the best case, will later make their debut for the Polish national team, but also good people. We therefore strongly condemn the unsportsmanlike behavior of our two young players. We are waiting for the return of the two players, but we can already reveal that the players will face very harsh consequences.”

The German U17 team is also on site in Indonesia. Coach Christian Wück and his charges around BVB star Paris Brunner, who was also recently suspended by Borussia Dortmund, will face Mexico, New Zealand and Venezuela in the preliminary round
