Landesliga club brings ex-BVB talent into the coaching team and wins

Last week, SSV Buer brought in a former Borussia Dortmund junior talent to the coaching team and won at the weekend.

SSV Buer 07-28 won 4:2 at DJK TuS Hordel and are currently in 5th place in the table after 13 matches – five points behind leaders and top favorites SC Westfalia Herne.

SSV coach Misel Zec was very satisfied with the performance in Bochum-Hordel. Zec: “That was an incredibly good game from us. We defended well and played strongly from the back. We did a great job of finding open spaces and were therefore able to go on the attack time and again. It was a very organized performance, both defensively and offensively. We only need to defend better when we conceded the two goals. Overall, I’m very proud of the team.”

A few days before the game in Hordel, the team from Buer introduced a new assistant coach. Damian Liedtke will work with Zec with immediate effect.

“Göksel Maden and I used to play together with Damian in Hassel. We’ve been good friends since then. Damian was incredible as a player,” says head coach Misel about his old buddy.

Liedtke was most recently coach at SG Castrop-Rauxel and before that spent many years as a coach and player at SC Preußen in Essen. The family man, who lives in Recklinghausen with his wife and two children, says: “I promised my wife that I would take a baby break and then return to the sidelines. Now the time has come. I’m looking forward to working with Misel Zec and the rest of the coaching team.”

The 38-year-old Liedtke, who is now the owner of a flooring company, had what it takes to make it to the top at junior level. Born in Poland, he played for Borussia Dortmund and was always a key player in the DFB’s youth teams – U15, U16 and U19. But in the end, it wasn’t enough for him to play more than decent first division soccer. He recently explained why he failed in the Forecasting category – “Instead of becoming a professional footballer, I…” – read the article here
