Six wins in a row! District league leaders aim to go one better in top game

District league team Blau-Gelb Überruhr leads the table. The top match against Tusem Essen is coming up on the next matchday.

Even after 13 games, the district league leaders in Group 6 still come from Essen: We are talking about Blau-Gelb Überruhr. However, their eleventh win of the season and sixth three in a row was hard work.

Überruhr were surprisingly trailing at the break at bottom-placed ESC Preußen. After the break, however, captain Ahmet Kizilisik, Mohamed Sealiti and Gian-Luca Bühring turned the game around and the favorites ultimately won 3:1.

“Patience and perseverance paid off”

“The game turned out to be more difficult than expected. Prussia’s courageous approach made it difficult for us to get into the game. Their high pressing and physical play demanded a lot from us. In the second half, two changes brought a breath of fresh air into the game. We fought our way back with increased tempo and more scoring chances. Although our opponents led 1:0 at half-time, we were convinced that our team could turn the game around. Patience and perseverance then paid off,” summed up coach Murat Aksoy.

Six wins in a row and a three-point lead over runners-up Genc Osman Duisburg – things are currently going like clockwork for last year’s runners-up. When asked about the recipe for success, Aksoy replied: “Our team is in excellent form and shows impressive dedication in training. The players support each other and motivate each other even in difficult moments. This team dynamic is also reflected in the game, where everyone is willing to run for each other.”

Aksoy continued: “We also play a high pressing game and put our opponents under pressure early on. That means we’re not far away from the opponent’s goal once we’ve won the ball. For the high pressing to work, the players have to have good athleticism. Thanks to our new assistant coach Adrian Jeglorz, we can also train very well in this area. “

This will be a real test. Tusem is considered by many to be the favorite for promotion and is characterized by a cohesive team performance. The challenges of the last few games have shown us that we can grow as a team and keep calm even in difficult situations.

This Sunday (12 November, 3.30 pm), the Aksoy team have a top match on the program. Überruhr will face third-placed Tusem Essen at home. Both teams are separated by a whopping eight points, but the BGÜ coach is aware of the difficulty of the task against the team relegated from the regional league:

“It will be a real test. Tusem is considered by many to be the favorite for promotion and is characterized by a cohesive team performance. The challenges of the last few games have shown us that we can grow as a team and keep calm even in difficult situations. We are confident that we will also put in a strong performance against Tusem and are looking forward to a fair match. “
