SV Wacker Obercastrop II has the best defense in Germany

The SV Wacker Obercastrop reserve team currently has the best defense in Germany. No other team in the Kreisliga B has been able to score against Björn Brinkmann’s team.

The best defense in Germany currently comes from Castrop-Rauxel. SV Wacker Obercastrop II have kept a clean sheet in all 14 league games in the Kreisliga B. But that’s not all: in these 14 games, coach Björn Brinkmann’s team managed to score 90 goals. That’s an astonishing 6.4 goals per 90 minutes. All other men’s teams conceded at least one goal.

With 42 points and a goal tally of 90:0, SV Wacker Obercastrop II is logically at the top of the table. So far, no team has managed to beat the Wacker Obercastrop reserve team. The recipe for success? “The overall structure is just right for us. We have a good mix of offense and defense,” explains the coach.

Brinkmann continues: “It’s not just individual players, but the whole team. We also have three great goalkeepers. They take turns every game, which is quite unusual.”

The biggest win so far: 21:0 against R.W.T Herne II on the tenth matchday. The good mood in the team is probably not absent from the success, but the chemistry in the team was also right before the season, emphasizes Brinkmann. And this despite the fact that the players first had to come to terms with narrowly missing out on promotion during the summer break.

The coach explains: “We already had a good team last year and all of them stayed. Last season, we only lost one game and were the ones who didn’t get promoted. Everyone said that about us beforehand. So it’s all the better that we now have this run of success and can forget the disappointment. “

We’ve now gone 14 games without conceding a goal. Let me put it this way: why shouldn’t what we did in the first half of the season also work in the second half?

It’s the little things that make for a good atmosphere: “We have a very large catalog of penalties. The coaching team always has to pay when we play to nil. So I’ve had to pay a few euros so far. The team bears that. It’s nice to have something like that in addition to the big goal.”

If it should come to the point that one of the three SV goalkeepers has to reach behind him, the team will take it with humor, explains Brinkmann: “We’re still ambitious and take soccer seriously, but we’ll take it with humor. We’ve now gone 14 games without conceding a goal. Let me put it this way: why shouldn’t what we achieved in the first half of the season also work in the second half?”

Brinkmann added: “If it does happen at some point, it would be nice if it came from within the game. I’d be annoyed if the goal was the result of an unfortunate refereeing decision.”

It remains to be seen whether SV Wacker Obercastrop will go into the winter break without conceding a goal. After the match-free weekend, Brinkmann’s team must travel to second-placed SG Arminia Stephanus Holsterhausen. For the Wacker Obercastrop coach, this is an extra incentive: “Holsterhausen also has a good offense and has already scored a few goals. I’m excited to see what the match will bring. “
