Hildmann had to think of this Regionalliga duel during the 3:3 spectacle

Preußen Münster gave the fans at the Preußenstadion a turbulent game on Sunday – just like a year ago to the day in the Regionalliga West.

November 26th is apparently synonymous with spectacle at Preußen Münster – at least this year and last year.

Yesterday, Sunday, the SCP fought a wild third division duel with Viktoria Köln. After trailing 0:2, the eagle bearers came back, turning the game around half-time into a 3:2 within four minutes – but ultimately had to settle for a 3:3 draw.

Coach Sascha Hildmann’s team put in a similarly memorable performance exactly one year ago to the day. The SCP played host to SG Wattenscheid 09 in the Regionalliga West – and as top of the table against the relegation candidates, they were the heavy favorites.

However, the Münster side initially managed to squander their 4:1 lead at the break at the Lohrheide. However, after the Wattenscheid side equalized in the final minute, they still managed to score the lucky punch. Simon Scherder scored the 5:4 winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time

The Prussians were not granted this moment of happiness a year later against Viktoria Köln. Nevertheless, Sascha Hildmann was reminded of what happened a year ago, as the coach explained to club media after the game. “Somehow everything reminds me of Wattenscheid,” he said to assistant coach Louis Cordes during the match. “If we make it 4:3, everyone freaks out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.”

However, Hildmann was not dissatisfied after the second draw in a row. It was a crazy game in which his team fought brilliantly, but made life difficult for themselves through individual mistakes. “I would have loved to win, of course. But you always have to look at the big picture. The way we did it was okay,” said the coach, whose team will visit 1. FC Saarbrücken next Saturday (2 p.m., RS live ticker).
