Dede and Piszczek arrive – big crowd expected, top player leaves

Friday, December 8, 2023: It will be a big day for Westalenliga club SV Wacker Obercastrop. Because Dede will wear the Wacker jersey for one match, and his opponent will be Lukasz Piszczek.

Three Borussia Dortmund legends at a game of a Westfalenliga club. You say that’s not possible? SV Wacker Obercastrop will prove otherwise on Friday, December 8, 2023, starting at 7:30 pm.

The Westfalenliga club will host Polish fourth-division side LKS Goczalkowice this Friday evening. The 38-year-old Piszczek has been player-coach here since July 2021 and is now also a soccer coach

A third BVB legend will be joining them: Dede will make a guest appearance for the sixth division club from Castrop-Rauxel. “We’re really looking forward to it. When Kevin Großkreutz told me that Piszczek and his team had been invited to BVB this weekend and would like to test against us beforehand, I didn’t have to think twice. Of course we want to offer the fans this spectacle,” said Tim Eibold, head of sport at the sixth-placed team in the Westfalenliga 2.

1400 tickets have already been sold in advance. SV Wacker is secretly hoping for up to 2,000 spectators. “Advance sales are still running. We appeal to everyone to make use of this. As things stand at the moment, however, a box office will also be open,” says Eibold.

Großkreutz and Piszczek once celebrated great success at Borussia Dortmund. They won the DFB Cup together and became German champions. They also reached the Champions League final with BVB in the 2012/2013 season. Borussia, then under coach Jürgen Klopp, played a great game in London, but in the end FC Bayern Munich won the European soccer premier class in the German-German final.

Top performer leaves SV Wacker Obercastrop

Marin Vranjic has not played in the top flight, but in the Westfalenliga together with Großkreutz in Obercastrop. With 15 games played from the start, the Bosnian was one of the top performers in Antonio Molina’s team. In future, however, the Wacker coach will have to do without Vranjic, who won the national title twice as a professional in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The 28-year-old will return to his home country in the winter.

“That’s a bitter loss for us. Marin is not only a fine footballer but also a great person. We will miss him. We are looking around to see how we can replace him,” explains Eibold. He added: “For now, we’re looking forward to a big family party on Friday evening with Kevin, Dede, Lukasz and SV Wacker Obercastrop!”
