Jadon Sancho is still on the sidelines at Manchester United. A winter transfer could provide a remedy – perhaps back to BVB?
Jadon Sancho arrived in Manchester in 2021 to great acclaim. The Englishman had developed into an absolute top player in four years at BVB and earned Black & Yellow an impressive €85 million. However, the United chapter went anything but according to plan for the winger.
Two and a half years after his transfer, Sancho has played 82 competitive matches, scored twelve goals and provided six assists for the Red Devils. Since September, the 23-year-old has played no part at all. Coach Erik ten Hag suspended the Englishman after his frustration post on social media and has not taken him back on since.
A move in the winter seems to be the only way out – but where to? As reported by Sky on Tuesday evening, a return to Borussia Dortmund is indeed an option. According to the report, BVB are already working on a six-month loan deal for Sancho and the winger himself is open to a return to his old club. Accordingly, it is now up to United whether the loan deal goes through.
114 scoring points in 137 games for BVB
In any case, Dortmund would not have much to lose – and perhaps Sancho will even return to the form with which he once shook up the Bundesliga. The Manchester City youth player made his Bundesliga debut at the age of just 17 and soon established himself in the first eleven. In 137 competitive matches, Sancho scored a total of 114 points (50 goals, 64 assists) for Black & Yellow.
Neither Karim Adeyemi nor Donyell Malen really impressed on the Dortmund wing this year. The latter has also been the subject of repeated transfer rumors. Behind them lurk Julien Duranville, who was injured in the first half of the season and caused a sensation at the age of 17 during the preparations, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who has recently been a regular fixture on the left wing.
However, Dortmund’s wingers have only managed six goals and two assists in the Bundesliga so far – not enough. With Sancho, Terzic would have another option for both sides, who has already proven that he can provide plenty of goalscoring threat
