Tournament record for England women – 8:0 against Norway

The hosts in England have also won their second group match of the European Women’s Championships. The English women broke their own tournament record with a score of 8:0 against Norway. As a result, they move into the quarter-finals early as group winners.

The match was expected to be competitive, but England led 6-0 before half-time against Norway, who are ranked 11th in the world.

Austria beat Northern Ireland 2-0 on the second matchday of the championship. For the Northern Irish, the fight for the European Championship title thus already ends in the group stage. Their last match will be against England on Friday.

On matchday 2, Denmark will play against Finland and Germany against Spain. Germany and Spain are currently leading the group with three points each.

First Corona case in the DFB team

The DFB women will have to do without Lea Schüller for their second group match against title candidates Spain at the Brentford Community Stadium. The FC Bayern Munich goal scorer tested positive for the Corona virus and had to be isolated from the team. The German women already had a Corona case in their preparations for the Women’s European Championship with captain Alexandra Popp. The national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg stressed in detail how carefully the German team was handling the Corona measures.
