Two-meter giant has several inquiries – “I want to go to the regional league”

The sell-out at SV Straelen has begun. After withdrawing from the Oberliga, players are looking for a club. Dacain Baraza is one of them.

Marcio Blank, who is moving to Landesliga club SV Scherpenberg, is the first player to leave the bankrupt SV Straelen, which is withdrawing from the Oberliga Niederrhein. The next players will follow in the next few days.

Dacain Baraza, the third-placed defender in the Oberliga, is also currently in negotiations with several clubs. “I’ve shown in the last two years that I can play in both the Oberliga and the Regionalliga. I’m very confident that I’ll find a good club,” said the 24-year-old.

Baraza moved to Straelen in January 2022. He won the Lower Rhine Cup 2022 with the club from Römerstraße and was also able to celebrate relegation from the Regionalliga West with SVS.

“In the end, it was a good time with a bitter end in Straelen. I played 39 games in the Regionalliga and 17 games in the Oberliga for the club. I always had a good relationship with Hermann Tecklenburg and felt at home at the club. The end was sad, of course. It was like someone throwing you in at the deep end unannounced. Now everyone has to think about themselves and make the best of the situation,” says the Wuppertal native, who also lives in the suspension railroad city.

I want to play in the regional league. I know I can do the league. But there’s also the option of switching to ambitious Oberliga clubs. A well-considered decision will be made in the next few days

Dacain Baraza

The two-meter giant would prefer to live near the Wupper and stay in the soccer west. “But that’s not a dream come true,” Baraza also knows. The central defender could also imagine other directions as far as his new employer is concerned. At the moment, it even looks that way.

According to information from forecasting, Baraza is in contact with Oberliga club Ratingen 04/19 as well as Regionalliga Nordost representative Chemie Leipzig and Nord-Regionalliga clubs SSV Jeddeloh and Norderstedt. “I want to play in the Regionalliga. I know that I can do the league. But there is also the option of moving to ambitious Oberliga clubs. A well-considered decision will be made in the next few days,” says Baraza
