Ex-Duisburg player and 218-time second division player to come – decision is urgent

Halle FC could make a prominent addition in the fight against relegation from the third division. An experienced former Duisburg defender is on the cards.

Can Hallesche FC get its defensive problems under control? 48 goals conceded in 22 third division games is actually far too many for the club to stay in the league. But although HFC has the worst defense in the league, the team from Halle is still above the line. Defensive midfielder Yannick Stark could now provide a remedy.

The former Dresden player is currently in trial training with Halle. “The question is how quickly he can help a team and what his fitness level is like,” Halle’s sporting director Thomas Sobotzik told MDR.

Stark last played for Turkish second-division club Manisa FK and has been without a club since September 2023. He recently kept himself fit at third-division club SpVgg Unterhaching, but a deal did not materialize. “The contact came about at relatively short notice,” said Stark about his presence in Halle.

They wanted to use Tuesday and Wednesday to “get to know each other”. “I think both sides can imagine that.” However, the decision is urgent, as the transfer window is only open until Thursday, February 1, 6 p.m.

Yannick Stark comes from the youth ranks of Eintracht Frankfurt

Stark trained as a youth player at Eintracht Frankfurt and played for the second team until the summer of 2010. This was followed by a move to MSV Duisburg with a direct loan to SV Darmstadt 98 and a year later to FSV Frankfurt. Curious: He ultimately played in just one competitive match for the Zebras and moved to Bornheimer Hang on a free transfer in 2011

Further spells at TSV 1860 Munich and Dynamo Dresden followed. He was promoted to Bundesliga 2 with the Saxons in the summer of 2021 and relegated a year later. He then moved to Turkey in the summer of 2022 – a chapter that was not to be crowned with success.

In his career, Stark made 218 second division appearances and 68 appearances in the modern third division. Stark could now help Halle FC in the fight against relegation from the third division. A direct competitor: Stark’s former club MSV Duisburg
