Resignation of the first chairman, this is how the pre-sale for RWE works

KFC Uerdingen has to cope with the resignation of its first chairman. 1400 tickets have already been sold for the cup match against RWE.

There was never a dull moment around KFC Uerdingen during the long winter break in the Oberliga Niederrhein. It was supposed to be all about KFC wanting to attack for promotion to the Regionalliga West in the remaining round.

Instead on the agenda: a big hole (500,000 euros) that needs to be plugged quite quickly. Then there were the supposed problems surrounding the home match against Rot-Weiss Essen in the Lower Rhine Cup. However, these were not true and the club can plan for a full capacity of over 10,000 visitors.

Almost 156,000 euros of the 500,000 euros have now been raised. However, KFC will have to do without 1st chairman Marc Schürmann in its search for further sponsors.

He has informed the Uerdingen board of directors that he is resigning from his position as 1st chairman and from the board of KFC Uerdingen with immediate effect for personal reasons.

“We very much regret this decision,” explained Nils Gehlings, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We would like to thank Marc Schürmann for the time and work he has given to the club and wish him all the best for his personal and professional future.”

In a statement from the club, CFO Bernd Limberg explained: “We are continuing to work at full speed to stabilize our club and get it back on track.”

The KFC board currently consists of three people (Sebastian Thißen, Bernd Limberg and Andreas Scholten). “We have coordinated internally and agreed that Sebastian Thißen will take over the areas of responsibility on the board for the time being,” emphasizes Scholten, the deputy chairman of the traditional club.

Our wish is, of course, for the Board to be expanded again in the short term, for which we will make a concrete proposal

“Christian Gummert will also be responsible for the area of sponsorship. We will also receive support from the cooperation with VEU Ruhr GmbH & Co. KG, which will set up a KFC entrepreneurs’ circle.”

Looking ahead, however, there will be one more person on the board in the foreseeable future, as Sebastian Thißen reports: “Our wish is of course that the board will be expanded again in the short term, and we will submit a concrete proposal for this. We all need to remain focused on our self-imposed goal of strengthening the club for the future. After all, the league matches are due to start again next week, followed by two very special home games, where we will need you all in the stadium in large numbers! Advance sales for the cup match against Essen are already going extremely well. After just two days, around 1,400 tickets have already been sold in advance to members and season ticket holders. “
