SpVgg Erkenschwick invites Markus Söder for a currywurst

The political Ash Wednesday was also heard in Erkenschwick. There was now an invitation to the CSU leader.

On Ash Wednesday, Forecasting reported on the speech by CSU leader Markus Söder, who did not mean well with the traffic light government in particular.

We didn’t want to go on an excursion into political territory, but we included the speech because it also mentioned the regional league team Wuppertaler SV and the Westfalen-Oberliga team SpVgg Erkenschwick.

Söder also countered a statement by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who claimed that his “traffic light” government was the best government ever. And here he left his beloved Bavaria for once and picked up on soccer in North Rhine-Westphalia to illustrate his point.

Söder shouted into the hall in response to Scholz’s statement: “That’s like the president of Wuppertaler SV or Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick believing he plays in the Champions League!”

The Erkenschwickers took up this nationwide publicity via Facebook and invited Söder for a currywurst in the pot. “Of course we’ll be playing in the Champions League soon! Dear Mr. Markus Söder, you are cordially invited to convince yourself of the great quality of soccer here at the Stimberg. We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful city with a delicious currywurst and the finest pilsner.”

The next opportunity would be on Sunday, when Erkenschwick awaits SG Finnentrop-Bamenohl in the Oberliga Westfalen at 3:15 p.m.

Whereby we also like it very much in the Oberliga, where honest soccer is still played

Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick

Before that, the club made a plea to Söder for the fifth division: “And by the way: of course we will play in the Champions League at some point! However, we also like it very much in the Oberliga, where honest soccer is still played. We look forward to your visit and send sporting greetings from the Ruhr region.”

We are curious to see whether the CSU boss will respond to the invitation. Because one thing is clear: as a meat fan, he will be happy to enjoy a currywurst. At the political Ash Wednesday in Passau, he emphasized: “Roast pork, Schäufele, Leberkäs, Weißwurst and, of course, Nuremberg Rostbratwürste are practically constitutional in Bavaria and are therefore protected!”
