SV Lippstadt ahead of next relegation clash – the coach’s demands

SV Lippstadt face a crucial clash in the basement. Following their victory over Rot Weiss Ahlen, the team in the basement will now face their nearest rivals.

The relegation battle in the Regionalliga West continues to intensify week by week. Right in the middle of it: SV Lippstadt. Lippstadt occupy the penultimate place in the table and are five points behind second-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach, who are in first place.

With western teams such as MSV Duisburg and Arminia Bielefeld in acute danger of being relegated from the 3rd division, it must be expected that there will be four relegated teams in the Regionalliga West.

Felix Bechtold, coach of SV Lippstadt, does not want to be put off by this: “These are circumstances that we cannot influence. It is our credo to say that we only refer to our own performances. Because we have access to that.”

Bechtold’s team recently landed some real big points. SV Lippstadt won 2:1 against their direct neighbors in the table, Rot Weiss Ahlen

An important win for the head and above all for the table. Viktor Maier, captain and goalscorer of the team second last in the table, was visibly relieved after the three-pointer: “There’s a lot to take away. I can’t remember waiting so long for a three-pointer. It was a do-or-die game for us.”

Lippstadt naturally want to maintain their upward trend. Their next opponents are FC Wegberg-Beeck. Another team that is at the bottom of the table and only last weekend suffered a 2-0 defeat against Borussia U23 from Mönchengladbach.

Another relegation thriller. For Bechtold, however, every upcoming task is a key game: “We’re not in a position to give games away. Of course, this is a direct rival in the table. That’s why we are well aware of the importance of these three points. It’s a home game for us and we want to play accordingly. “

With a win, Lippstadt would move to within two points of Gladbach II. SV also have one game less to play than the colts.

The incentive that can mobilize the last bit of energy from the tank? “Yes, I assume that we’ll take that with us as an incentive. First and foremost, however, we have to deliver 90 minutes and get a positive result. Then we can take a quick look at the table, give ourselves a break and then get straight back to work,” said Bechtold.
