Hansa Rostock reports two fans after spectator scandal

Hansa Rostock is drawing the consequences from the scandalous fan incidents at the weekend. In addition to criminal charges, there will also be stadium bans.

After the 0:3 defeat in the basement duel with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, Hansa Rostock continues to stagger towards relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. As if that wasn’t bitter enough, supporters of the Baltic Sea club caused some unpleasant scenes during the match.

First of all, a spectator who had entered the stadium tried to attack the Kaiserslautern professionals who were celebrating a goal. Stewards and players were able to bring the person to the ground. After the final whistle, another spectator found his way onto the pitch. He tried to get to Hansa captain Markus Kolke but was stopped in time by stewards.

The club has now drawn conclusions from these incidents: As the Rostock club announced, they have filed charges against both spectators. The FCH also initiated proceedings for a nationwide stadium ban in both cases. This would be valid for three years – the maximum duration for first-time offenders. One of the perpetrators is also being investigated for attempted bodily harm.

The incidents will also have financial repercussions for the two fans who entered the stadium. In the likely event that the DFB imposes a fine on the club, this will be passed on to the two individuals

“With all understanding for the absolutely understandable disappointment and anger about the renewed home defeat as well as the concern for F.C. Hansa in the current sporting situation, attacks on other people are absolutely unacceptable,” emphasize the Hanseatic city. “They are in no way helpful – neither for the club nor for fans who cross this line and have to live with the consequences mentioned.”

At the same time, Rostock admitted that security measures at the match against Kaiserslautern “did not take effect sufficiently or quickly enough”. An internal review had already been carried out on the day of the match and conclusions drawn as to how such incidents could be avoided in future. Corresponding measures are to be applied from the upcoming home game onwards.
