New board at ESC Preußen, contract extensions at Turngemeinde

The ESC Preußen Essen had announced that the new board would be in place in a few days. No sooner said than done: the district league club has voted.

No wins, two draws, 19 defeats, 28:101 goals: ESC Preußen Essen is almost certain to be relegated from the district league. The new start in the Kreisliga A will be tackled with a new board.

After 14 years, Daniel Künzel has stepped down as head of the board. He announced this to Forecasting a few days ago: “I informed the club of my decision back in May 2023. It was already clear then that I would be taking up a new job in September 2023, which is simply more time-consuming. I also have a young daughter and live in Duisburg. I simply don’t have the time anymore. At the next Board election, guys in their mid-20s or early 30s will stand for election. They should then be happy to let off steam as new board members.”

A few days ago, the board elections took place on Seumannstraße. This is what the newly elected ESC board looks like: 1st Chairman: Nils Etscheid, 2nd Chairman: Manfred Schröder, 1st Managing Director: David Künzel, 2nd Managing Director: Steffen Klein, Treasurer: Anne Grawe. The assessors are: Aurel Brackhage, Henry Hartmann, Nicole Schröder, Lina Schröder.

While a new board was elected at ESC Preußen on Seumannstraße, league rivals Turngemeinde Essen-West extended a number of player contracts.

The two winter additions Onur Caparlar and Mert Aslaner will continue to play at Haedenkampstraße in the coming season. This also applies to defender Özkan Akcapinar and striker Özgür Akcapinar. Both are entering their fourth season at the Turngemeinde, which was coached by Diemtar Krause. The coach also made his commitment for the 2024/2025 series a few weeks ago.

While ESC Preußen are bottom of the league, Turngemeinde Essen-West are in eleventh place and can be almost certain of a season in the Bezirksliga next season
