New vice-president elected – former coach with new role

1. FC Bocholt held an extraordinary general meeting before the match against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

Before valuable regional league points are at stake against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on Saturday – March 16, 2 p.m., Forecasting live ticker – elections were held at the Hünting.

David Fahrland is once again vice-president of 1. FC Bocholt. The 46-year-old was unanimously elected at last night’s extraordinary general meeting.

Fahrland had previously held the position for many years at the club currently second in the Regionalliga West table before retiring in 2021 for professional reasons.

Now he is back – much to the delight of the 50 or so members entitled to vote and FC President Ludger Triphaus: “David is experienced in business, we never lost sight of him.” Now FC 1 can “keep the sports managing director’s back free. We don’t move a budget of 5,000 or 20,000 euros a month at FC 1. That has to be clearly regulated financially. That’s why we are very happy to be able to spread the burden over several shoulders,” emphasized Triphaus.

The members also voted unanimously on an amendment to the articles of association, according to which the club’s financial year will in future run from July 1 to June 30. This was a requirement of the soccer association on the occasion of the licensing procedure. “This means we always have a clean finish at the end of the season,” said Ludger Triphaus, also highlighting the major advantage.

Triphaus also presented returnee and former first-team coach Manuel Jara, who has acted as a link between the youth department and senior team as Technical Director since January, as well as Sven Klahsen and Jens Visser, who are to redesign the youth department together with Jara as Head of Sport and Head of Organization respectively, at the general meeting in the clubhouse.

Bocholt will be looking to hit the headlines again on Saturday with a win over Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. Coach Dietmar Hirsch emphasized: “I don’t know whether Oberhausen have already given up on catching up. But we have to watch out for the boys. Everyone knows players like Sven Kreyer or Moritz Stoppelkamp. They can always do something. We’ve already got a big task ahead of us. Nevertheless, we want to win this game!”
