Christoph Dabrowski has experienced a lot in his active footballing life, but also as a coach. The good times and the bad. He recently suffered with a colleague.
Christoph Dabrowski is not only a successful coach at Rot-Weiss Essen, but also a very empathetic fellow coach.
The fact that Thomas Letsch was sacked by VfL Bochum, where Dabrowski spent seven years as a professional and where his son Luc Dabrowski is currently under contract, did not leave the RWE coach cold. His return to the Bielefeld Alm is a similar story. The native Pole also wore the Arminia jersey from 2001 to 2003.
Before the appearance in East Westphalia, the 45-year-old spoke about…
… the venue for the Lower Rhine Cup final against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen: “At the end of the day, it won’t be decided by us, but somewhere else. It’s clear that we want to play at Hafenstrasse. But I also see it as the perfect place for a great event. I don’t have to tell anyone about the event character of Hafenstrasse. I believe that the people of Oberhausen would also enjoy it. There’s also the financial aspect. But let’s all wait and see what the association decides. “
I would only wish that the clubs would go through and survive such phases together with the coaches. But the club has made this decision and no other. Of course, I hope that VfL end up above the line and play in the Bundesliga 1 next season as well.
Christoph Dabrowski
.. on his return to the Bielefeld Alm: “Basically, I have very positive memories of that time. They were very positive sporting experiences, including promotion to the Bundesliga. There was always a great atmosphere in Bielefeld and I’ll always remember the fantastic support on the Alm. There are hardly any more points of contact. The equipment manager who was there 25 years ago is still there. Alex Jacob is now Bielefeld’s press spokesman, someone I remember from Hanover. I’m looking forward to the reunion and the game.”
… the end of coaching at his favorite club VfL Bochum: “Basically, I spend a lot of time around Rot-Weiss Essen. But, of course, I have sympathy for VfL Bochum because of my past. I got to know Thomas Letsch because, like me, he watches a lot of youth games. He is a very likeable fellow. I just think it’s a shame that a club decides to take such measures. Especially as his contract was only extended prematurely a few months ago. But I also know that such decisions are part of the business. I would only hope that the clubs would go through such phases together with the coaches and get through them. But the club has made this decision and no other. Of course, I hope that VfL will end up above the line and play in the Bundesliga 1 next season. “
