This comes as a surprise: After only four games, Adler Osterfeld has to look for a new coach. The coach announced his resignation on Tuesday evening.

Four games, four defeats, 6:13 goals: Adler Osterfeld had a miserable start to the 2022/2023 Bezirksliga season. Sure, a classic false start. But coach Slavko Franjic, who has only been with Adler since 1 July 2022, actually wanted to build something long-term. Think again!

Franjic is no longer, but was an Adler coach. “It just didn’t fit. I realised that quickly, unfortunately. That’s how it is sometimes in life. That’s why I announced my resignation. It wouldn’t have made sense for me to keep pulling this. I wish the club and the team all the best for the future,” Franjic told RevierSport on Tuesday evening.

Franjic had succeeded Adler veteran Udo Hauner and was full of beans. “Why Oberhausen? It’s simply a different circle, a different perspective and a challenge to give this traditional club Adler Osterfeld a new shine again. As a coaching team, we want to get things moving again. That’s why none of us had to think long and hard about it. Adler Osterfeld is a great address. We are already looking forward to the new season,” said Franjic, who was born in Essen, before the end of February 2022.

With Franjic, six more people are leaving

Franjic had gone to Osterfeld with his trusted coaching team of Martin Pallus (co-coach), Henrik Knöpke (team manager) and Adriano Tiso (goalkeeping coach). The aforementioned persons are also no longer in office. The same goes for Maike Kampling (physiotherapist), Jörg Lieg (co-trainer) and Maik Steffen, who was responsible for press relations. In short, seven people, including, head coach have turned their backs on Adler Osterfeld after just four match days.
