BVB in front, Schalke fighting for the final round – How things are going in the other seasons

The championship has been decided in the West. In the U-19 Bundesliga North, however, there will be an absolute showdown next weekend. The situation in Germany.

In the U19 Bundesliga West, the championship has actually already been decided. Even before the 22nd matchday, it was clear that Borussia Dortmund would go into the final round of the German championship as the league winners. Dortmund secured the unofficial West title on the couch on Wednesday evening.

Because their closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen surprisingly lost 2-1 to bottom-of-the-table SC Verl in a catch-up game, the Werksklub can no longer catch BVB. As a result, coach Mike Tullberg’s team will advance to the final round as champions for the third time in a row.

However, the West will be the only section to have two finalists. And the battle for the place behind BVB is extremely exciting. Bayer 04 Leverkusen currently occupy that spot with 45 points. FC Schalke 04 is one point behind, with both teams celebrating victories at the weekend.

Leverkusen recently won the direct duel 3:2. As things stand, it is the Rhinelanders who will advance to the final round.

Two opponents from the other two national leagues await them in a tournament format. This is the current standings:

U19-Bundesliga North/Northeast

Hertha BSC are top of the table – two points ahead of VfL Wolfsburg. But it should actually have been five. The Berliners led 2-0 against Hamburger SV last weekend, but lost 3-2.

The Wolves, for their part, left no doubt about their final round ambitions with a 9:0 win against Hansa Rostock. Hertha and Wolfsburg will go head-to-head on Saturday, April 20 at 2 pm. A total of four match days remain.

U19 Bundesliga South/Southwest

Last year, 1. FSV Mainz 05 first won the south-west season and then the German championship title. The Mainz team then qualified for the UEFA Youth League, where they were only eliminated in the quarter-finals against FC Porto (1:4).

This season, however, Mainz are a long way from that. After the 5-2 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Hessians have moved past them and are now fourth. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are top of the table – nine points ahead of their closest rivals FC Ingolstadt. With four games to go, the ticket to the final round is as good as booked
