There was a lot going on in the Landesliga Niederrhein 2. A no-show, a top team drops points, a relegated team concedes double digits. After Sterkrade, another relegation threatens.
Following the withdrawal of Sterkrade-Nord from the Landesliga Niederrhein 2, the league is currently in a state of trepidation, as SV Hönnepel-Niedermörmter, the last team standing, also failed to appear in a league match for the first time.
Hö.-Nie. has long been relegated, the team is not competitive in sporting terms, only the 0:2 at the green table against leaders SF Niederwenigern.
In an interview with the WAZ, team manager Holger Tripp emphasized that Hönnepel has many players who are currently unavailable. However, he asked the club to play the season to the end.
Otherwise a new calculation would have to be made, even though the relegated team has only managed to pick up five points so far. Niederwenigern thus gained three points in the slow lane and was able to watch on the couch as BW Dingden failed to score in a 0-0 draw against DJK Arminia Klosterhardt.
SV Biemenhorst are therefore the new runners-up. They won 1:0 at PSV Wesel-Lackhausen. Niederwenigern are now five points ahead of their two closest rivals, and SF still have a game in hand. That smells like promotion.
It smells more like relegation than ever for FSV Duisburg, who were relegated without any resistance. After 90 minutes against 1. FC Lintfort, the score was 0:11 – what an embarrassment.
Lintfort were almost saved, as were SG Essen-Schönebeck, who won 2-0 at SpVgg Steele. For Steele, on the other hand, things are becoming increasingly precarious in the relegation battle. The gap to SGE Bedburg-Hau in 15th place is two points.
FC Kray were expected to finish much higher than 15th, but they also lost on Sunday. After a 2-1 defeat at SF 97/30 Lowick, Kray are only in twelfth place. VfB Frohnhausen, who had to watch their basement rivals score without playing, would have liked to be there.
The gap to a non-relegation place is now five points, and VfB have the worse goal difference.
