Preußen Münster are one step closer to promotion to Bundesliga 2. After the 4:1 win against 1. FC Saarbrücken, players and fans celebrated the moment in style.
At 3:43 pm, 20 minutes after referee Dr. Max Burda had finished the match between Preußen Münster and 1. FC Saarbrücken on Sunday, there was no sign of the Hildmann team in the catacombs of the time-honored stadium on Hammer Straße.
The reason for this was a clear 4:1 victory, which lifted the sensational promoted team back up to second place in the table – which is why the black, white and green supporters celebrated the Münster team long after the final whistle.
After the well-deserved jubilation for the SCP players – who are preparing to march through from the Regionalliga to Bundesliga 2 – central defender Alexander Hahn led the procession on the way to the dressing room.
The ex-Essen man, who only recently cemented his place in the Prussian first eleven, tipped his hat to his teammates. “Are you kidding me?” he shouted out in disbelief to the press representatives, “4:1 against Saarbrücken, at this stage of the season!”
Hidmann sees “very mature” performance
However, after the competition for promotion had fumbled the day before, Hahn was by no means the only player who had not necessarily expected such a big win against a strong Saarbrücken side. “After everyone had lost, a 0:1 would have been the classic,” said SCP captain and 1:0 goalscorer Marc Lorenz, revealing a worry that was ultimately not to materialize.
The reason for this was a mature and efficient performance by a strong Münster team. “I was impressed by the performance,” emphasized SCP coach Sascha Hildmann. “That was very mature.”
Sebastian Mrwoca, who had to make way for Rico Preißinger in the 72nd minute after taking a blow to the heel, felt the same way as Hildmann and Hahn. “The whole team was really good,” said the 30-year-old veteran after the black, white and green celebration, who had no reason to find a fly in the ointment.
