Halle FC has now made a somewhat unusual personnel decision. It’s about filling the position of sporting director.
In a currently precarious sporting situation – with two match days to go, the club is two points off the safety of the drop zone – Hallescher FC has not made an everyday decision.
Daniel Meyer, who was born in Halle, has taken over the position of sports director at HFC with immediate effect and is therefore responsible for planning for both the 3rd division and the regional league. The lawyer and holder of a soccer coaching license is available to the club with immediate effect. He is the successor to Thomas Sobotzik. And: Meyer was most recently active as a coach: in Braunschweig, Aue as head coach, as U19 coach at RB Leipzig and at 1. FC Köln.
“Daniel Meyer has the full package: As a native of Halle and former head of our NLZ, he knows the club and the region. He also has an excellent network, experience as a coach and, as a lawyer, is able to deal with legal issues carefully and competently. In addition, he has convincingly conveyed in the talks that he is passionate about our HFC and the tasks ahead,” said HFC President Jürgen Fox on behalf of the board, summarizing why Daniel Meyer was chosen.
Meyer will be supported by Toni Lindenhahn in planning the squad and will of course immediately begin talks with the coaching team and players.
“My aim is to help HFC in the current difficult and complex situation. The aim is to put the club in a good position for all possible sporting scenarios in the short term,” says Meyer, describing his role.
The HFC board emphasizes in the official announcement: “Both sides have mutually and contractually agreed to achieve short-term goals for the upcoming summer transfer period, taking into account the current situation. At the same time, future issues and longer-term objectives will be discussed and regulated
