After the Leverkusen Cup celebrations, the draw for the upcoming 1st round is already scheduled: When and where will the draw balls be drawn, who will be broadcasting?

While Bayer Leverkusen celebrated with the DFB Cup and the championship trophy in their home stadium, other teams were already mentally preparing for the upcoming season in the cup competition.

64 teams are eagerly awaiting the draw for the first round. Which amateur club will catch Bayer Leverkusen or FC Bayern? Who will Schalke, VfL Bochum, Rot-Weiss Essen and BVB play against?

DFB Cup: When will the draw be made? The 1st cup round will be drawn on Saturday, June 1, as part of the ARD sports show. It starts at 6 pm at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. Stephanie Müller-Spirra will host the show, with DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth in charge of the draw.

DFB Cup: How is the draw made?: There are two draw pots: the professional and the amateur pot. A total of 64 teams take part. The professional pot is made up of the 18 Bundesliga clubs and the 14 best clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga from the most recently completed season. The bottom four clubs in Bundesliga 2 and the four best clubs in Bundesliga 3 are in the “amateur pot”.

The remaining 24 starters have qualified via their respective state cup, including Rot-Weiss Essen following their victory over Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the final. The three largest regional associations are sending two clubs into the race: Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Westphalia. A draw is always made first from the amateur pot, and the team drawn first has the right to play at home.

1st main round: August 16-19, 2024 and August 27-28, 2024 (for clubs playing in the Super Cup)

2nd main round: October 29/30, 2024

Round of 16: December 3-4, 2024

Quarter-finals: February 4/5 and 25/26, 2025

Semi-finals: April 1-2, 2025

Final in Berlin: May 24, 2025
