New striker for 09 – “We want to play a good role in the Oberliga

SG Wattenscheid 09 has made its fourth external signing for the 2024/2025 season. A new striker is coming.

SG Wattenscheid 09 can announce another new signing: It is TSG Sprockhövel attacker Deniz Duran, who moved to TSG from SC Velbert in 2022.

Last season, he played 30 out of a possible 34 games there. In the first leg of last season, he scored in TSG’s 4:1 win at the Lohrheide Stadium.

The 24-year-old lives in Bochum and is looking forward to the club from the Lohrheide: “SG Wattenscheid 09 is simply a traditional club with a great fan base. I know most of the players, which was also an important reason for coming here. We want to play a good role in the Oberliga and I want to develop both as a player and as a person here.”

Christopher Pache, the SG’s new coach, thinks a lot of Duran: “We’re getting a fast and tricky footballer who comes over the wing, but also feels quite comfortable in the center. He didn’t have the easiest year in Sprockhövel with the relegation, but I don’t think that was due to his individual quality, but because the team didn’t function well. We have taken him on well in Wattenscheid and are looking forward to developing him further. At the age of 24, he’s at the peak of his career, where he’ll be able to call on a lot more. He also has a lot of experience and was an absolute regular in Sprockhövel. With his quality, we’re looking forward to getting even more power in attack.”

SG Wattenscheid 09: Four additions fixed – twelve departures too

Duran is the fourth external addition for SG Wattenscheid 09 after Semih Sarli (SV Schermbeck), Leonard Jegus (KFC Uerdingen U17) and Gian-Luca Rexhäuser (SV Herbede). He is joined by U19 players Tarik Ould Seltana and Quentin Weiß.

The following players have left SG Wattenscheid 09: Marvin Schurig (Sportfreunde Niederwenigern), Maurice Haar (Türkspor Dortmund), Niklas Lübcke (VfL Bochum II), Abid Yanik (FC Kray), Daniel Dudek (Westfalia Herne), Nico Thier (Sportfreunde Lotte), Nils da Costa Pereira (Erkenschwick), Arda Nebi, Jeffrey Malcherek, Frederik Wiebel, Felix Casalino and Fabrizio Fili (all destination unknown).
