Since Tuesday, July 9, 2024, third division fans can go to their calendars and make a note of the dates. The fixture list is out. RWE kick things off with two home clashes
The secret is out: before every season, fans in every league are always eagerly awaiting the publication of the fixture list.
The German Football Association (DFB) published the fixtures for the 2024/2025 third division season on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. From a district perspective, the matches of our only third division representative Rot-Weiss Essen were particularly interesting.
And RWE fans, who bought 11,270 season tickets, can look forward to some great opening matches at the stadium on Hafenstrasse. Alemannia Aachen and Arminia Bielefeld will play in Essen on the first matchdays. In between these traditional western clashes, RWE will travel to Hannover 96 II in Lower Saxony. This is also a special encounter for coach Christoph Dabrowski
Forecasting asked the RWE coach what he had to say about the fixture list. Dabrowski: “We’re looking forward to starting with a home game. We have a great start to the season with the traditional duel against Aachen – Hafenstraße, probably a sell-out crowd, that’s great. Then it’s Hannover and Bielefeld, two former clubs of mine, which is of course very special for me personally. I still have some contacts with Hannover in particular. Overall, I think the fixture list is very balanced and I can live with it. We’ll now use the next few weeks to hit the ground running at the start.”
Against Alemannia Aachen, the historical record definitely speaks in RWE’s favor. In 28 competitive matches, Rot-Weiss Essen have celebrated 13 victories over the Kaiserstadt club. There were also six draws and nine victories for the league newcomers from Aachen.
