RWE give away lead, last-minute point for VfL, S04 still in control

The U17s of Rot-Weiss Essen are annoyed about losing two points on the sixth matchday of the U17 Bundesliga West. Meanwhile, S04 remain at the top without losing a point.

While the U19-Bundesliga West takes a break, the U17-Bundesliga continued this weekend. Schalke won again on the sixth matchday, but BVB stayed on top. While VfL can be happy about a last-minute point, MSV Duisburg managed to break free. Rot-Weiss Essen, meanwhile, let a 2-0 lead slip away.

SC Paderborn – Rot-Weiss Essen 2-2

Against Paderborn, who started badly (two points from five games), Rot-Weiss Essen wanted to collect more important points in the hard fight to stay in the league. At first, things looked very good for the Hohenberg team. Yan Marcos Friessner Montas gave the visitors the lead with a brace (15th/52nd). But the Essen team did not manage to keep the two-goal lead. Emre Gündoglu (67th) and Monti Theiß earned Paderborn their third draw of the season. RWE thus slipped to a still strong sixth place.

Fortuna Düsseldorf – Borussia Dortmund 1:4

For BVB, the break in the U19 Bundesliga also meant that top scorer Paris Brunner was allowed to continue his record chase. The 16-year-old scored 14 times in the first four games. But for once, it was a team-mate who took the lead in Düsseldorf. Alex Niziolek gave the Black and Yellows the lead after 27 minutes. Shortly before the break, however, Brunner was on the spot and increased the lead to 2:0 (45.). After the change of ends, Niziolek again provided the decisive goal. Fortuna came back to 1:3 through Ricardo Vemba in the 90th minute, but Brunner’s penalty in injury time secured the final score – and his 16th goal of the season in his fifth match.

FC Schalke 04 – SV Deutz 05 7:1

The Knappenschmiede remain the measure of all things in the U17 Bundesliga on matchday six. Against SV Deutz 05, Onur Cinel’s eleven achieved the expectedly high sixth win of the season. Taylan Bulut (9th), Mert Can Ayhan (33rd) and Jermaine Jann (35th) made it a 3-0 lead before the break, which Ben Berzen increased to 4-0 shortly after the restart (49th). One consolation for the Deutz team: Keyhan-Ömer Güneser scored his first goal against Schalke this season after 60 minutes. However, this did not change the clear outcome. Keanu Kerbsties (69th), double-pointer Berzen (87th) and Amin Muja (90+2) made it 7:1. Thus, S04 remains at the top without losing a point and with a two-point lead over Dortmund.

Arminia Bielefeld – VfL Bochum 3:3

In a spectacular match, VfL Bochum earned a point at Arminia Bielefeld. Tom Krüger (11th) and Henrik Koch (20th) gave the hosts an early 2-0 lead. Mamadou Barry scored the equaliser before half-time (36th), but Nick Cherny restored the gap just five minutes after the restart (50th). But even with the 1:3 deficit, VfL did not give up. Zinedine Durmus had the answer just nine minutes later. The substitute Ciwan Günes saved the equaliser for the very last second. He scored in the 95th minute to make it 3:3 and VfL remain level on points with Bielefeld. Both teams lose from Schalke and Dortmund but remain in the upper midfield.

Fortuna Köln – MSV Duisburg 1:4

After two 3-0 defeats in a row, MSV Duisburg bounced back thanks to two braces. Kleomenis Tsioutsioulitis (45./48. FE.) scored twice against Fortuna Cologne. His team-mate Arda Dumus did the same (68./77.). Fortuna Köln’s goal in the 81st minute by Tom Schneider came too late. Even the yellow-red card for the team from the south of the city had no effect. MSV thus jumped from the relegation places to tenth place for the time being.
