Three players still wanted, departures still possible

VL Bochum’s personnel planning is not yet complete. Above all, they are looking for a flexible attacker.

VfL Bochum will kick off the new Bundesliga season on Saturday (August 24, 3:30 pm). The opening match is a difficult task at RB Leipzig. One week before that, VfL must face Jahn Regensburg in the DFB Cup (Sunday, August 18, 3:30 p.m.).

It is not yet certain whether the squad will be complete by then. One thing is clear: there can and will be changes to the squad, both in terms of additions and departures. Looking at the squad, one thing is clear: there are no plans to replace keeper Manuel Riemann (contract until 2025), and Paul Grave could also leave if VfL can find a new goalkeeper. The search is ongoing.

There are also rumors about Niclas Thiede, in whom SSV Ulm is said to be interested. Due to a knee injury, he is currently unable to take part in the battle for the number one position at VfL. Should Thiede also leave, Bochum would possibly need two new goalkeepers.

Bochum are also still looking for a flexible striker and a defender. Gladbach are said to be interested, especially if Bernardo leaves. Bernardo would currently be the only candidate apart from Erhan Masovic who could fetch a transfer fee in the millions.

Should a transfer fee be paid, VfL would be much more flexible. Without a transfer fee, RS reports that there is money available for a goalkeeper and an all-rounder in attack.

Unless you get rid of one or two other players. If Jordi Osei-Tutu or Gerrit Holtmann wanted to move, there would certainly be no obstacles in the way.

However, Holtmann is currently one of the very few attacking wingers in the Bochum squad. After the departures of Takuma Asano and Christopher Antwi-Adjei, only Samuel Bamba is a candidate for the attacking wings apart from Holtmann.
