FC Blau-Gelb Überruhr wants to make a big dream come true this season: Landesliga promotion on the club’s 50th anniversary.
At the winter break, FC Blau-Gelb Überruhr is four points away from the big goal of promotion to the national league. The team from Essen is currently locked in a neck-and-neck race with Duisburg’s SV Genc Osman in the Lower Rhine District League Group 6.
In the second half of the season, Überruhr coach Murat Aksoy wants his team to take the fast lane and overtake Genc Osman, who have been relegated from the regional league, in order to be represented in the sixth-highest division for the 2026/2025 season. FC Blau-Gelb Überruhr’s big goal for the 50th anniversary of the club is promotion to the national league in 1974.

… the first half of the season for FC Blau-Gelb Überruhr: “If you look at the points haul, then you have to be satisfied with 42 points. And we are. But the four points we lost in games like against Tusem Essen or SV Burgaltendorf simply hurt and are missing. If we still had them on our credit side, then it would have been an outstanding series, now it was just a very good first half of the season.”
… the best moment of the season so far: “The 2:1 derby win against SV Burgaltendorf shortly before the winter break was nice and also a revenge for the bitter 3:3 draw in the first leg. But the best game we’ve played this season was against SC Werden-Heidhausen. That was a really strong performance, close to perfection for our capabilities.”
… the worst moment of the season so far: “That was the 3:3 against Burgaltendorf. We lead 3:1 until the 85th minute and are outnumbered – and how does the game end? 3:3! That was of course extremely bitter and felt like a defeat.”
… the goals for 2024: “Our goal is definitely to continue where we left off and, of course, not to lose touch with Genc Osman. The indoor winter round is not a priority for us. We want to do everything we can to ensure that Blau-Gelb Überruhr is promoted to the national league on the club’s 50th anniversary. “
