Fourth game without a win – RWO with 1:1 in Cologne

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen wanted to finally get back on the winning track in Cologne after three games without a win. However, no three points came out against Fortuna either.

Fortuna Köln seem to have finally found their way back on track after a disastrous start to the season. After two points from the first six games, they recently won two in a row. Oberhausen, meanwhile, had been waiting for a win for three games before the match. And the spell did not break in the Südstadion either. In the end, the result was a 1-1 (1:1), which probably doesn’t really help any team.

It didn’t take long for the first upset of the game to happen. After only two minutes, Stipe Batarilo-Cerdic went down in the penalty area. The whistle blew, but Batarilo-Cerdic himself was shown the yellow card – a swallow. But the first real chance to score also belonged to Cologne. After a cleared cross, the ball landed at the feet of Adrian Stanilewicz, who shot the ball just wide of the left-hand goal from 20 metres.

RWO equaliser comes as a surprise

Shortly afterwards, Dustin Wilms did better, heading in a free-kick from halfway to make it 1-0. The next setback for the Oberhausen team, who first had to collect themselves. Sascha Marquet (31st) and again Wilms (34th) had the second goal on their feet, but failed to convert and left the door open for RWO. Then, on 36 minutes, Leroy Mickels crossed to Kelvin Lunga. He crossed again into the back area for Sven Kreyer. The centre-forward took the chance and scored the somewhat surprising equaliser (36th minute).

Note

There was little action in the second half. At first, RWO did more for the game, but then Fortuna took the reins again. However, it was not really dangerous – until the 85th minute. Kingsley Sarpei had the lead on his feet from five metres, but only managed to hit the ball on the outside of the net.

That was the last chance of the game. Fortuna Köln thus remain in a disappointing 15th place. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen also continues to make no real headway. After nine games, the Terranova team is in ninth place. They are already ten points off the top.

Köln II beats Rot Weiss Ahlen

The second win in a row for 1. FC Köln II at Rot Weiss Ahlen. After the 2:1 victory over Wuppertaler SV, Andreas Zimmermann’s team won 3:1 (2:0) in Ahlen. Luca Schlax (4th) and Rijad Smajic (24th) put the “Effzeh” on the winning track early on. The hosts from Ahlen came back through Tobias Reithmeir (55th), but shortly before the end the Cologne team made everything clear (83rd). The U21s thus jumped out of the bottom of the table and into eighth place.
